Next up to bat…Crash Davis

Indianapolis, Indiana - I kept expecting to hear that as they were announcing the next batter for the Durham Bulls. That is a Bull Durham reference if have you not seen the movie. My wife and I took Cole, our five year old son, to his first Indianapolis Indians game yesterday. We were directly behind home plate, so it was a great view of the entire stadium. I was impressed as Cole lasted through the 7th inning before he started asking when it would be over. We finished up the evening eating at Red Robin at Clay Terrace. We also had to go to Dick’s Sporting Goods so that Cole could look at their “hunting” stuff. Don’t ask where this is coming from, but for some reason he is now into hunting. Fishing, hunting, and CAMO are on his mind all the time. So we checked out the crossbows, the fishing supplies, and the camouflage clothing. It is hilarious to me because I have zero camo and zero hunting experience, so when he wants me to watch BowHunter with him on ESPN2 I just have to laugh. But that is one thing that I try to make sure that I look at his interest in this as being very important to him even if it is not an interest of mine. I think too many times parents want their kids to do what they want them to do. It is just hard sometimes. :) I guess if he really gets into hunting someday when he is older I could always just take my camera and 300 lens and get some great shots of deer, geese, ducks, or whatever the heck else people hunt. I will just have to wear my wedding “ninja” outfit so they don’t see me coming.

I figure that this might be one of the last times to see the RCA Dome. Lucas Oil Stadium is now in full swing, so the Colts will no longer call the RCA Dome their home.

Cole and I hanging out…

This was one of the “cool” things that Cole wanted to buy…

Up next summer….Chicago Cubs and Wrigley Field.
Joe and Darcy’s Wedding…

Kokomo, Indiana - I had the honor of shooting the wedding with Darcy and Joe. They were married at the First Baptist Church with their reception following at the Kokomo Country Club.

A little good luck kiss from the flower girl…

The guys had a “pre-game” warm up with Pastor Jon Tice…

This little wedding guest was just too hard to pass up for a quick shot…

I loved the idea that Joe and Darcy had instead of “favors” they donated to Bridges Outreach of Kokomo…

Joe and Darcy’s first dance…

I loved the timing on this shot…I love how much freedom digital photography has given kids…Practice makes perfect…

I’ll end this post with a shot of Joe leading the “party train” with Darcy right behind him…

Thank you guys for allowing me to share in your wedding. I wish you both the very best…

Chauncey’s Six Month Baby Session…

Anybody remember this session??

What about this one??

Chauncey’s six month session didn’t seem possible because this is really her third session with me. Her mommy got some pictures take of her when she was about eight months along. I was all worried that she might have her in the studio. :) Then we shot her newborn shots, so by now she is a pro at having her pictures taken. I can’t wait til her one year shots. I am guessing that I will need to have my running shoes on to keep up with her…

It was so funny. She kept holding her hand out to the side like this.

Liz’s Senior Session…

I wanted to share a few shots from Liz’s senior picture sessions. She is a senior from Taylor High School and is a three sport athlete in volleyball, basketball, and track. I met Liz about a year and a half ago when I shot her sister’s wedding, and I shot her brother’s senior pictures as well. So needless to say we had a lot of things to talk about during our sessions.
Thanks Liz and good luck in your senior year!

How cute is this shot?

You would not want to meet Liz in a dark alley like this…She would probably smile you to death!!

I found another cool door way while we were out shooting…

Perseid’s Meteors - 1 — Wedding Photographer - 0

I tried my hand tonight at chasing meteor showers instead of a bride. :) The Perseids meteor shower has been something that I have been reading about over the last few days with the hope that I would be able to get at least one shot of a meteor. So I had everything all set up and ready to go. I have just come inside after about an hour of at least 10 mosquito bites, my feet are soaked (sandals are not a good idea for meteor hunting), and zero shots of any meteors. I am curious to know if this is the way everybody starts off. I can see this as probably one of the last times that I try this type of photography. Not saying that I am quiting, but too much work for not enough results. Here it is at 3am and I could have taken these same shots at about 10pm. Do you get the feeling that frustration is creeping in here?
I felt like I was in a little bit of a guessing game out there…I think I saw one…hmm…nope. Well…maybe it was…I am not really sure what it is that I am looking for to be exact. My guess is that I should have gone to bed and gotten up early to see if I could catch something before sunrise, but I have a bunch of sessions tomorrow, so that was not happening.
Anyways…I did manage a couple of cool shots while I was out there…but I wasn’t able to get anything from Perseid.
